TJJ Roots is a three-week program created exclusively for NCSY & JSU Canada participants. The trip will challenge participants to confront Jewish history and develop leadership skills to help build the Jewish future. Spending the first week in Poland and then two weeks in Israel, TJJ Roots is designed for students with a high level of intellectual and emotional maturity, proven leadership ability and strong involvement in NCSY/JSU. While TJJ Roots is open to any applicant, preference will be given to students that attended the TJJ Canada Summer program in years prior.
Was TJJ a life-changing experience for you? TJJ Roots is the next step in that transformation. On TJJ Roots you will develop the skills necessary to lead educational, Israel advocacy and social action events in your city.
Spend a week in Poland reflecting on Jewish history in Europe and the role of tragedy in the creation of Jewish identity. Afterwards, travel to Israel and tour the land through the lens of Jewish thought, history and leadership.
Step outside of your comfort zone and meet a select and diverse group of public school teens from around the country. Confront fundamental questions related to Jewish identity and collaborate with the staff to help create educational and leadership programming.
